Going blind by head injury?

this is for a paper i'm doing. does anyone have websites on injuries to the opitical lobe leading to blindness? i know it's possible, but exactly where would you have to injure and how long would it take the effects (blindness) to set in? also, does anyone have any personal stories of this happening to them or someone else. best answer gets 10 points.
