Dedicated vs Discrete graphics card?

Can anyone tell me if Dedicated and Discrete graphics are the same, I know I'm not interested in Intergrated graphics but I haven't heard of Discrete graphics, I'm getting the feeling it's just another name for Dedicated just like notebook and laptop are much the same.
